Since September 2008 new rules to combat passport fraud have resulted in tens of thousands of UK passport applications being rejected because of the photographs. No smile, no shadows on the face or background, glasses frames must not cover any part of the eye, no reflections, the background must be grey (not white), etc.

Babies under 3 months are charged at £15, as these can take longer to get the perfect passport shot.
